I have just created a little Mac Application called "WDTV Cover Finder".
It tries to get cover artwork from the internet and saves correctly for our WDTV. I you want to try it here is the link: http://rapidshare.com/files/225579674/WDTV_Cover_Image.dmg Enjoy it. Please drop some comments here. |

I bought this from Amazon after reading good reviews. I still have time to send it back.
I wanted something to play HD movies from my cameras, which include a Panasonic Lumix FZ28 and a Canon SX1. The Lumix has 720p(i?) movies, the Canon 1080p(i?) I think. I can play the movies from the Panasonic on one of my PCs, but the Canon movies are too tough - so I'll need a new computer ! I had hoped I could just put these movies onto a drive, and then play them via the WD TV, but it looks as though I have to convert them. Is this correct? It said in the advertising blurb that the formats were supported, but it could be that this was by a fix - using the supplied Arcsoft software. I've tried that - and it's really rather slow (again, I need faster computers). If the WD TV is going to be a pain, with lots of time spent trying to get this to work, and also to convert the video, then I may be better off returning the unit, and buying a fast computer and linking it directly to my TV. Now I think it's official, wdtv gen 1 users are abandoned by wd. No more firmware upgrades, if you want them buy a wdtv live or wdtv gen 2. I would prefer an asus oplay or a xtreamer.
